Walk a while with me Under blossoming trees, Underneath the new spring sky. You should have been with me: Two, together free, Underneath the new spring sky. I cast away this fool. Next to me, I want a jewel. Someone who knows my mind, Not someone who’s deaf and blind to who I really am. I’ll take you to the hill Where Nelson eats his fill. Watch the city shine as she dies. See the primrose rise, Hear the carrion crow’s cries, Underneath the new spring sky. I cast away this fool. Next to me, I want a jewel. Someone who knows my mind, Not someone who’s deaf and blind to who I really am. I’ll take you to the banks of the clear, shaded river. We’ll paddle, and we’ll shiver (Just like we did before). The sun shone through the trees, making lines swim everywhere: Like a tiger’s pelt, I swear. The sun shone just for us, especially. Walk a while with me Under blossoming trees, Underneath the new spring sky. You should have been with me: Two, together free, Underneath the new spring sky. © Ali George 2014

Fallen Jewel 03:06
Fallen Jewel You’re way past me. You’re fire in the trees. A fallen jewel, Lost in a room. I can’t go back for you. This time I’m not falling too. We always tear. We always tear. We’re broken things. We’re fighting the wind. Our only hope: To meet in the spring. I can’t go back for you. We’ll have to see what time can do. We always tear. We always tear. You never learn. You push ‘til you burn. I tried so hard, But tried in vain. We always tear. We always tear. We always tear. We always tear. © Ali George 2013

It's the Way 04:17
It’s the way you fall like glass: Made me love you, Made me crack. And the way you pierce my soul With your eyes: Black and gold. And the way you blow the wind to me. I can see you fixed yourself. You are strong, Strong in your world. Can’t you see? I’m still a shell. It takes so long for my scars to heal. And you can’t understand the road I’ve travelled, Or the way you blow the wind to me. It’s the way you shine in the crowd: Makes me haunted, Makes me proud. And the way your passion flows Every time the fire grows. It’s the way you blow the wind to me. It’s the way you blow the wind to me. It’s the way you blow the wind to me. It’s the way you blow the wind. © Ali George 2014

Mushroom Picking I’m so glad to be friends with you, Mushroom Picking in the afternoon. I’m so glad to be friends with you, Picking sloes under the moon. I used to love you as a lover, but we fought like rats. Now I love you as a friend, and we hang out like bats. We used to shout and scream. We used to say cruel words. Now we walk in the sun, and we chirp like birds. I’m so glad to be friends with you, Mushroom Picking in the afternoon. I’m so glad to be friends with you, Picking sloes under the moon. © Ali George 2014

Faded Out 03:58
You faded out of my life In the morning mist, And you paw your way back in Like a burrowing doe. We talk through the night. You fill me with laughter. You understand me best: You know what I need. You know about the dark things That feed on my soul. We talk through the night. You fill me with laughter. You warm my black heart. You see through my scars. You like all the things other people see as my faults. We never run out of things to laugh about. You always know when I’m down, and I’m hiding. You always stand up for me. You always stand up for me. You always stand up for me. © Ali George 2014

Is the shadow out? She plucks the curtain back, And it’s there upon the ground: So still, so sad. It stretches ‘cross the street: A strange and unknown form. Its name she does not know. Its purpose still a mystery. The shadow’s much too bright To let her see its face. It’s waiting like a knife, It’s waiting like an angel. “Are you my father’s ghost?” She whispers in the darkness. She goes to fetch a drink, Then comes back for the show. “Are you my father’s ghost?” She whispers once again, And scans the empty street Just for the absent shadow. Desolation comes again, And it’s heavier than relief. Desolation comes again, And it’s emptier than her grief. © Ali George 2014

Elation Spark, You’re standing in the rain. (A cold wind blows.) You’re hanging back. Just what are you afraid of, my love? You’re very changed, yet…. You wander still. I call your name, but…. The table’s turned on me. You’re going home once again. I was your home long ago. Elation spark: The one who must be wild (On lonely roads.) The one who must throw caution to the wind (In her own style.) We’re very changed, yet…. Are we the same? I call your name, but…. The table’s turned on me. You’re going home once again. I was your home long ago. Elation Spark, You’re standing in the rain. (A cold wind blows.) You’re going home once again. I was your home long ago. You’re going home once again. I was your home long ago. You’re going home once again. I was your home long ago. © Ali George 2015

Walking on the quiet trails, Where I know no one will be but me. I need to be alone Because I want to think of you, But I am not alone Because you’re on my mind, so true. Smash the nettles, Touch the bristles on the thistles. Watch the ripples As they shake up green reflections. Somehow these golden pictures have something of you. Though nature’s not your longing, Nature longs for you. There’s something of your spirit in this river. I think it’s just the way it’s full of life. Walking on the quiet trails. Where I go, no one will know but me. I need to be alone Because I’m missing you, It’s true. The people that I meet Don’t shimmer like the way you do. In the shadows: Dew is still upon the grass. In the patches: Yellow light comes through the branches. Somehow these playful pictures have something of you. Though nature’s not your longing, I see it in you. There’s something of your spirit in this river. I think it’s just the way it’s full of life. There’s something of your spirit in this river. I think it’s just the way it’s full of life. © Ali George 2015

Nighthawks 04:49
Well, it’s quiet at home this morning, And I miss my old friend today. It was so rarely quiet back then. You were not one for silence. All those nights when I just couldn’t sleep; To the kitchen I’d creep, And I’d find you writing songs on gas bills, Listening to your radio. When we walked you’d always lead the way. When we drank you’d lag behind. And you always said I was the strong one, But I don’t think I am. Many a cold winter’s night I’d come home With empty pockets, and a bad cold too; And with a smile and a laugh, I’d find you Playing dead under the table. Years before when we were younger, You pulled me through when I was so low. It seemed to me you make people happy. (Everyone but yourself.) When we walked you’d always lead the way. When we drank you’d fall behind. And you always said I was the strong one, But I don’t think I am. Well, it’s quiet at home this morning, And I miss my old friend today. It was so rarely quiet back then. You were not one for silence. You always try to get the best out of life: Always aware that our time is brief. Me, I’m just trying to hide forever. I thing you’ve got it right. When we walked you’d always lead the way. When we drank you’d lag behind. And you always said I was the strong one, But I don’t think I am. © Ali George 2015

Foxglove clusters grow for miles and miles: An endless trail by a railway line. Venturing under the viaduct…. Back to the way, Going on and on. Back to the way, Going on and on and on. A black swarm of buzzing bumble bees, Bicycles creeping by once in a while, Ancient hamlets lead me blind…. Back to the way, Going on and on. Back to the way, Going on and on and on. Foxglove clusters grow for miles and miles. A stray dog followed me for a good while. My freedom mind, my freedom feet. Back to the way, Going on and on. Back to the way, Going on and on and on. Back to the way, Going on and on. Back to the way, Going on and on and on and on and on and on. © Ali George 2014
